Maurice Mars, MBChB, MD, is an Emeritus Professor of TeleHealth at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, where he established the department in 2002. Formerly, he held the position of Professor of Physiology at the University of Natal Medical School. Dr. Mars chaired the eHealth sub-committee of the Ministerial Advisory Committee on Health Technology in South Africa and provided advisory services on eHealth in Rwanda. He is an esteemed member of the editorial boards of various telemedicine and eHealth-related journals, and he serves as the editor of the Journal of the International Society for Telemedicine and eHealth. Furthermore, he has contributed his expertise to committees of the American Telemedicine Association, the International Society for Telemedicine and eHealth, and the American Medical Informatics Association. Dr. Mars has a substantial publication record and maintains his research focus on telemedicine provision in developing regions.
